In this situation, the diet plan in diabetes is essential for keeping the disease under control. In fact, diabetes is a condition caused not only by genetic predisposition, but also by the metabolic imbalances caused by unhealthy eating combined with an erratic lifestyle, sedentary life and excessive consumption of high calories and foods with high content of sugars. So, having a diet plan in diabetes is not simply a recommendation, but an important component of the therapy against this disease.

So, here are some useful tips about healthy eating with diabetes.

1. Try to cook more and eat less out

Although some products are marketed under the label “organic”, you cannot be sure about the amount of ingredients used (salt, sugar). Salt intake promotes water retention, heart disease, kidney problems and high blood pressure. All these conditions associated with diabetes can cause many complications.

9. Eat foods rich in calcium and potassium

We are talking about oranges, pomelo, spinach, broccoli, cabbage.

10. In diabetes, you are allowed to eat red meat only twice a week, in small portions

12. Avoid unhealthy and refined fats and consume in moderation healthy ones

13. Respect daily meals

To be effective, a diabetes diet plan should respect the classical scheme of daily meals: three meals and two snacks in between. Make sure you take your last meal at least three hours before bedtime, so your body has time to process the food.
